CAREGIVER JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary of Position:
As a caregiver, you will provide a variety of non-medical services to benefit the quality of life for our residents.
Physical Requirements:
This position demands good physical health.
As a caregiver, you will be required to lift, carry, walk, sit, push, pull and work a flexible schedule, must be able to move continuously during work hours and be able to lift and/or carry.
The employee is expected to remain on their feet during their working hours.
Typical Duties include:
Grooming: Hair care, shaving, oral care, nail care, peri care and skin care.
Bathing Assistance: shower assistance, shower chair, bed bath.
Dressing Assistance: assisting with dressing and undressing a resident
Toileting Assistance: bathroom, bedside commode, urinal, or adult disposable briefs,
catheter care, colostomy care
Ambulation Assistance: use of walker, wheelchair, cane, gait belt, or crutches
Transferring: from bed, wheelchair, low chair, use of hoyer lift, rotating resident in bed.
Cleaning for resident safety: bedroom, bathroom, dining room, living room.
Meals: following special diets, setting tables, serving, and feeding, making sure resident are drinking plenty of fluids throughout your shift.
Emotional Support: companionship, teaching, having conversations.
Communication: coordination of resident care with other members of our care team.
Reporting changes in resident conditions to all staff, charting records for resident care.
Charting: Bowel, meal intake, toileting, skin assessment (monthly and/or upon return from hospital), urine output with catheters, and tooth brushing
Checking residents entire bodies whenever possible for bruises, skin tears, and any possible breakdowns on buttocks, knees, ankles, elbows, etc.
Making sure facility is kept clean, neat and tidy at all times.
Picking up after yourself.
Monitoring: Health changes, physical changes, mental changes
Follow Injury & Illness Prevention Programs (IIPP).
Follow all policies and procedures in the IIPP (Aerosol Transmissible Disease Protocol, Chemical Spill Kit, Blood Borne Pathogens, Hazardous Communication)
Know where all Safety Data Sheet (SDS) locations are.
(Locations: House 2 medication room, Front kitchen, Housekeeping storage)
Follow SDS protocol
All positions are ADA accommodating
Perform any other duties assigned to me by my supervisors, or the Administration staff that may not be on the job description.
Additional Responsibilities:
Assist with other related duties as requested or asked by clients
Communicate with clients in a respectful manner
Treat client and client’s property with respect
Capability to continuously lift 70 pounds or ½ (one-half) of body weight; whichever is less.
Capability to lift repeatedly lifting 40lbs for the duration of your shift.
Reporting to your supervisor
Must be able to pass a criminal background check and a drug test.
Working schedule:
AM Shift
Hours: 6:15am – 2:45pm
Rotating schedule: Work 4 (four) days in a row, 2 (two) days off.
Then repeat.

PM Shift
Hours: 2:30pm – 11:00pm
Rotating schedule: Work 4 (four) days in a row, 2 (two) days off.
Then repeat.

GY Shift
10:45pm – 7:15am
Rotating schedule: Work 4 (four) days in a row, 2 (two) days off.
Then repeat.
Schedules are subject to change
Breaks and lunch are mandatory
