Follows a daily routine for the residents in accordance with nursing care plan in areas of physical needs.
The Certified Nursing Assistant carry's out procedures as assigned such as: Vital signs, temperature, (oral, axillary, rectal) pulse, respiration and blood pressure.
Admission, transfer or discharge of a new resident.
Intake and output, measuring, estimating and recording.
Specimen collection: urine, stool, sputum.
Serve meals and feed resident if necessary.
Encouraging, assisting and training in self-care and activities of daily living.
Follows safety measures in regard to self and resident with regards to: Body mechanics when repositioning and transferring.
Resident positioning and alignment including utilization of bed cradle, trapeze, mechanical lift, special mattresses, pillows, and wheelchair cushions.
Resident transferring to wheelchair, bed, shower chair or other chair.
Side rails, wheelchair and ambulation devices.
Fire and Disaster Plan and unusual occurrences.
Report's to duty as scheduled by maintaining personal wellness and organization of personal activities to prevent a shortage of care-giving staff.
Understands the plan of care for each resident in your assignment.
Report's any change in the resident's condition or ADLs immediately to the charge nurse.
Be familiar with Bethany Home policies and adhere to same.
Observes all residents' rights.
Provides visual privacy to all residents during personal care and treatments.
Maintains proper placement of resident's call bell and answers it promptly.
Leaves the unit (bed, bedside stand, over-bed table and vanity) clean and in neat order for the on-coming shift.
Attends 24 hours of in-service education annually, including the required in-services to meet state and federal regulations, to update, enhance and improve basic knowledge and skills.
Remains on duty until properly relieved and checked out with charge nurse.
Carry's out other tasks as assigned by charge nurse.
Supervisory Responsibilities This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Ability to write simple correspondence- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Reasoning Ability-Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations The CNA must have successfully passed a certification training program approved by the State of California and passed written exam and skills test by a state approved testing site.
Other Responsibilities Follow policies in regard to Infection Control and Standard Precautions in: Hand washing, use of barrier precautions, linen handling, transmission and prevention of infections, basic asepsis, including cleaning of equipment such as thermometers, bed pans and urinals.
Observes and reports any change in resident's condition.
Follows policies in regard to Restorative Nursing.
Responsible for daily computer charting in resident's permanent health record; all personal care done for and by the resident.
